Ciao and welcome to Life Out Loud. I am your host Desire Melfi Bozzo. We are going to use this space to share experiences and help you find lasting, unshakable, unwavering, unmessable-with joy and gratitude. We're going to be throwing around encouragement, a little bit like confetti and giving you support to live your very best life. Well, friends, here we are. That is so not entirely the way I wanted to kick off my podcast. But honestly, everything else I said just seemed really rehearsed and kind of fake. Now that that's over, since you're here, let's put the coffee on brew a delightful cafe latte with almond milk and throw in a dash of stevia. pull up a chair, and let's get to know each other. In the comments. I want you to tell me where you're tuning in from, and most importantly, how you take your coffee. I want to start off by welcoming you to this kind of different and definitely new to me space where I string together lines of words that hopefully delight your eardrums and maybe even make your soul sing. That might be asking too much. I'm not sure yet. Sweet listeners. This might sound funny, but I want to use this space to throw around encouragement, like confetti. Seriously, confetti, I might just end up bringing confetti before this is over. So now that you know where we are headed, I want to get you up to speed on how we got here. But the truth is, I'm not entirely sure. I mean, I know there were a lot of things leading up to this point. But if you would have told me a year ago that I'd be sitting in my closet recording into this fun, fabulous little blue microphone using this thing called a pop filter, I 7,000% would not have believed you. Side note, if you're wondering what a pop filter is, don't worry, I did too. It's basically this round thing that connects to your mic and takes the popping noises out of really fun words like paddynoddy and panification. Also, if you don't know what those words mean, I highly recommend googling them. Your life may never be the same. So ready or not? Here we go. Let's do this. The idea of my podcast came out of what I refer to as the COVID pivot, which I feel needs no explanation. But in case you want one, it's when the world got flipped upside down. I began to get super quiet and attempted to sit still ish. If you know me at all, you know that sitting still is not my forte. I searched the gut of my soul to see where exactly God was taking me next. The COVID pivot turned out to be an entire life pivot. And little by little conversation after conversation this podcast began to emerge. Sweet listeners, did you feel the COVID pivot too? Did something stir in you, making you realize that we have collectively like as a planet, experience, something that maybe just maybe changed us forever. Like, we can't go back to how it was ever. Rushing here rushing, they're going at breakneck speed for days, weeks, months, years on end, striving to do all the things be all the things attain all the things, you guys I feel sick just thinking about ever going back to that sense of normal. It wasn't normal, it was neurotic. I read a quote really early in quarantine that wore a beautiful groove into my neural pathways. The biggest loss in the end is if we come out the other side of this unchanged. Felt that in the gut of my soul. Thoughts about what this meant led to conversations that led to ideas that were put into action. And here we are. COVID pivot recentered life. This life we've been given this breath that fills our lungs that cannot be gone in an instant. It didn't take a pandemic to make me realize this. I want to be really clear about that. But it did take a pandemic to make me remember it. Am I alone? Did you feel that way too? did things in in life get clear for you? Maybe they got messy before they got clear. But did they? As this podcast began to take shape, there was this castle in the air that just kept appearing. When I thought about my "why". Before I dive too deep into the why I want to back up for a second I want to talk to you about the why in case you're not familiar the Why is the reason you do something. It's that thing that you go back to when the excitement has long since exited the building. The why is that, that driving force that that unmessable-with driving force that keeps your compass pointed to your true north. Your Why is your unshakable relentless forward progress when everything I mean everything is stacked against you. I'm a firm believer that anything worth doing in life needs an unshakable why. The why of this podcast is that throughout the course of my lifetime, be it family, friends career, I have mentored, taught and coached a lot of people. I've seen a lot of what works, and I've seen a lot of what doesn't, I've been privy to a ton of successes. And if I can be really honest, a ton of failures, some of my own most of my own. I want this podcast to meet you where you are, to help you live your best life. It's not just like this feel good thing that I say. It's truly what my life's about coaching humans to live their best, truest, most authentic, magical life. I want to give you content that resonates and stirs something in the gut to your soul, you're going to hear me referenced this place a lot. So bear with me, it's a real place, I promise. I want you to do me a favor, I want you to close your eyes for a minute. I mean, if you're like driving or operating heavy machinery, please do not close your eyes. If you're in a safe space, close your eyes for a second. I want you to take a deep breath. And I want you to really focus on it. Focus on the air going in your nose, down your throat in your lungs, filling your chest, feeling your belly expand that deep, conscious space. It's not quite your heart, but it's not quite your gut. That quiet space of true guidance and peace and call that all knowing place. In Italian, we say "il centro della tua esistenza." That place, my friends is the gut of your soul. That's the place where I want this podcast to resonate for you. I want you to leave this place feeling refreshed when life is running you ragged, because life will run you ragged. I want you to leave the space feeling lighter on your feet when the demands of the world are pressing in, because they will press in and want you to leave this space feeling joyful and full of gratitude in the face of any circumstance. Because that is possible friends. I've had a quote on a sticky note on my desk for years. It's one of those quotes and one of those like stickies that's been there so long that I don't even know when it was from, like I don't know how long ago it's from, or who wrote it. I just know that it's always been there. If you're the author of this quote, tell me so I can give you a proper shout out, please. It says so now that I was in this glamorous scene, I meant to make the most of its opportunities. Every morning, we wake up inside the glamorous story of our life. And I know I know, I am married with a child and a house and a job and all of the things so I know that it is not always picture perfect, glamorous. But it is pretty miraculous. If you think about it. We wake up on this day, in this moment, in this place in history born for such a time as this. Here we are, we are here. And so we must make the most of its opportunities. This is my answer to that. This is me using my trips around the sun to make the most of the opportunity of this day. Friends, we weren't meant to go through life alone. We weren't meant to do it on our own. People need people. So come back. Join me next time. Will I continue to throw encouragement around like confetti? Be careful if you stand too close, I promise you just might get some on you. There is plenty more to come. So stay tuned and until we meet again remember, there is always always something to be grateful for. Thank you for joining me Desiree Melfi Bozzo for this episode of life out loud.
